Vespasian. AD 69-79. Æ Sestertius (35mm, 26.80 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck AD 71. IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG P M TR P P P COS III, laureate bust right, slight drapery / ROMA RESVRGES, S C in exergue, Vespasian, laureate and togate, standing left, left arm at side, right hand extended to raise up Roma, a draped woman, kneeling right in front of him, and holding out her right hand to him; in the background stands the goddess Roma, helmeted and in military dress, holding [spear in right hand] and round shield in left hand . RIC II.1 195 (R2; same rev. die as illustration on back of dust jacket); BMCRE 565 (same dies); BN 531 (same obv. die). Brown patina, smoothed. VF. Very rare.
