Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, transverse spear in background; monogram to inner left. Marinescu Issue 17 (unlisted denomination, but is listed in his forthcoming revision of his dissertation); Müller –; HGC 3, 1394. Lightly toned, die break on obverse, a little off center on reverse. Near EF. Extremely rare, the sixth known of this issue (two in public collections [ANS and BN], the others in commerce). |
