BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 530-500 BC. AR Nomos (27mm, 7.83 g, 12h). Spread incuse type. Tripod, legs surmounted by wreaths and terminating in lion's feet, two serpents rising from the bowl and the two outer legs below; crab to right / Incuse tripod as obverse, but wreaths and lower serpents in relief, no serpents rising from the bowl; crab to right, radiate border. Attianese 31–2 var. (ethnic on rev.); HN Italy 2078. Toned, minor die break and some weakness of strike on obverse. Good VF.
