THESSALY, Larissa. Circa 460-400 BC. AR Trihemiobol (13mm, 1.30 g, 12h). Horseman, wearing petasos and chlamys, riding right, holding two spears; below, dolphin to right / ΛA-RI downward to right, the nymph Larissa seated right on chair with back terminating in swan’s head, holding mirror in raised left hand, phiale in right; all within incuse square. BCD Thessaly II 359.2 (length and arrangement of ethnic); HGC 4, –; De Luynes 1835 corr. (listed as diobol and dolphin now confirmed; same dies); Traité IV 675, pl. CCXCVII, 18 (symbol indistinct, dolphin now confirmed; same dies). Toned, minor porosity. Fine. Very rare.
