C. Vibius C.f. Pansa. 90 BC. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.82 g, 8h). Rome mint. Mask of Silenus right, wearing ivy wreath, tied with fillet; cymbal below / Mask of Pan right; flute before. Crawford 342/1; Sydenham 689; Vibia 8; CNR Vibia 22/4-5 for symbols; Type as RBW 1280. Toned, die rust, scratches. Fine. Rare symbols.

Pan-side symbol is a flute and the Silenus-side symbol is either a torque or more likely a cymbal in keeping with the musical instrument theme of control marks on this type. [Andrew McCabe]
