Anonymous issues. Circa AD 50-150. Æ Tessera (19mm, 2.80 g, 6h). Modius with three grain ears / Cantharus. Rowan, Ashmolean 14-15. Dark brown patina, roughness, off center. Good Fine.

The modius/cantharus tesserae are one of the few bronze tessera types for which archaeological context is known, with several specimens found in 1st-2nd century AD contexts at Lepcis Magna in North Africa.
