Sultani noted that “although the silver coins of Mehmed III are quite common, the gold and copper pieces remain elusive. Flat striking is prevalent in the coins and much effort must be expended to obtain nice specimens” (Sultani, 138). A nice gold example of Mehmet III such as this coin from the Haleb mint (previously erroneously cataloged as Misr) makes for an excellent addition to any Ottoman gold collection.
