Lot of eight (8) appliqués and other small antiquities. Various civilizations, 3rd millenium BCE to 4th century CE. Appliqués: Near East. (29 mm) An early bronze appliqué or splicer for a belt or reigns. The piece is shaped loosely as a lion standing left; at the bottom of the feet, two loops for suspension or suspending chain or a metal/leather attachment // Romano-Egyptian. (25 mm) A faience appliqué of the bust of a winged Victory, her head turned slightly left, wings flanking on either side // Roman. (26 mm) An appliqué in glass in cameo of a lion centrally within a Macedonian style shield // Roman. (22 mm) A glass appliqué with the face of a woman // Roman. (15 mm) A gilt bronze appliqué with a hook on reverse. On the face, an eagle with spread wings facing with with wings displayed, head left, within dotted border // Lead bird idols. Syrian, Archaic Period. (4 cm) A pair of lead “bird type” idols, with large beaks and simple features, embracing // Scarab. Lower Egypt, New Kingdoms Period.
