YORK. Edward IV. First reign, 1461-1470. AR Groat (27mm, 3.75 g, 9h). Heavy coinage, type III. London (Tower) mint; im: rose. Struck 1464. Crowned facing bust within tressure of arches; fleurs on cusps, trefoil on breast, quatrefoils flanking neck / Long cross pattée; triple pellets in quarters; eye in legend. North 1532; SCBC 1974. Toned, edge splits, a few marks and scratches beneath toning, bent flan with associated crack. Near VF. With an old Seaby ticket.

From the Arthur M. Fitts III Collection, purchased from Gordon A. Singer. Reportedly ex Lord Grantley (Glendining, 20 April 1944), lot 1430 (part of).
