Fatimids. al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah. AH 341-365 / AD 953-975. AR Dirham (21.1mm, 2.43 g, 2h). Al-Mansuriya mint. Dated AH [3]56 (AD 966/7). Unpublished. Buckled flan, considerable weak striking in margins. Fine. Of the highest rarity, apparently unpublished and believed unique.

While half-dirhams from the mint of al-Mansuriya were struck in quantity under al-Mu‘izz, Nicol knew of only a single full dirham from his reign (Nicol 464 = ANS 1917.216.1197) which lacked a readable date. On the present coin, while there is considerable weakness in the marginal legends, both the mint-name and the ‘56’ of the date are clearly legible.
