KINGS of MACEDON. Perseus. 179-168 BC. AR Tetradrachm (32mm, 15.26 g, 12h). Reduced standard. Pella or Amphipolis mint; Au-, mintmaster. Struck circa 171-168 BC. Diademed head right / Eagle, wings spread, standing right on thunderbolt; MA monogram above, AY (mintmaster’s) monogram to right, ΛΩ monogram between legs; all within oak wreath; below, plow left. Mamroth, Perseus 18b var. (different bottom monogram) and 20b, 22, and 26 var. (different top monogram); HGC 3, 1094; Gemini V, lot 72 corr. (same dies, incorrect Mamroth number listed). Toned, slight die shift and die wear on obverse. Good VF. Very rare with these control marks.
