ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of Kent. Eadberht Praen. Circa 796-798. AR Penny (18mm, 1.23 g, 12h). Canterbury mint; Æsne, moneyer. Struck 769-7. EAD/BERHT/REX in three lines; triple pellets flanking top and bottom lines / AE/SNE in two lines, each flanked by triple pellets, divided by bone-shaped ornament with central pelleted line. Naismith C1b = EMC 2009.0092 = Coin Register 2010, 173 (this coin); SCBI –; cf. North 29; SCBC 875 (this coin illustrated). Near EF, some light porosity on revese, toned. Very rare.
