PTOLEMAIC KINGS of EGYPT. Ptolemy IV Philopator. 222-205/4 BC. AV Mnaieion – ‘Oktadrachm’ (26mm, 27.78 g, 12h). Alexandreia mint. Struck under Ptolemy V, circa 204/3 BC. Diademed and draped bust right / BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΠTOΛEMAIOY, eagle with closed wing standing right on thunderbolt; monogram to right. Svoronos 1139; van Driessche dies D1/R1; SNG Copenhagen –; BMC p. 65, 33 = GPCG pl. 34, 26 = Kraay & Hirmer 806 (same dies); Hunterian 12; de Luynes 3578. EF, slight roughness, light graffito in field on obverse, a couple tiny field marks on reverse. Very rare, only eight examples noted by van Driessche.
