SELEUKID KINGS of SYRIA. Antiochos I Soter. 281-261 BC. AR Tetradrachm (17.09 g, 5h). Susa mint. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, monogram in circle; below throne, APX above strut. Cf. SC 399.1/399.2 (for primary/secondary controls). EF. Unpublished variety in a very rare series.
This new type provides a link between SC 399.1 and 399.2; the primary control, APX, is retained from the former, while the secondary control in the left field is found on the latter.
